Voices of Resistance: Women of Shaheen Bagh

Release Date: Jan 2025

I collaborated with political filmmakers Sunil and Vinith from Pedestrian Pics Production House to create a documentary on the landmark Muslim women-led protests at Shaheen Bagh. Together, we engaged with Muslim and Dalit minority communities, who have been disproportionately impacted by recent changes to India's citizenship laws, and captured the origins and evolution of the Shaheen Bagh movement. The film is currently in post-production.

Notes on Grief and Patriarchy: Pandemic Edition

The book explores the unexpected death of my mother in the middle of the COVID lockdown. I explore the universal experience of losing a parent while reflecting on the particularities of struggling to mourn during a global pandemic, which does not allow life to become bigger around the grief. As I came undone by personal trauma, India became subsumed in a collective tragedy. To survive the maddening onslaught of personal and collective grief, I go on a journey to resurrect my mom’s life and confront the dominant-subservient structures underlying my life.

I travel whenever I can, to places near and far, soaking in culture, architecture, and nature.
